Rain Chain - Copper, Zen Loops

    Product Detail:
  • Rain Chain, Copper Links Zen Loops™ (U.S. Patent No. D519,600).

  • The Zen Loops™ rain chain is a modern loop of a patented design in pure, thick copper. The vertical bars help water flow downward.

  • Sold by the foot! Please ensure to change the 'Quantity' ordering is the number of linear feet needed. Example: If you need 8 feet total length, change the quantity to '8'.

  • Each Rain Chain comes with a gutter attachment piece (V shaped piece of metal). We recommend purchasing the optional Gutter Installation Kit with every Rain Chain.

  • About Rain Chains:

  • Rain chains are a beautiful and functional alternative to traditional, closed gutter downspouts. Guiding rain water visibly down chains or cups from the roof to the ground, rain chains transform a plain gutter downspout into a pleasing water feature. From the soft tinkling of individual droplets to the soothing rush of white water, they are a treat to listen to.

  • Rain chains (‘kusari doi’ in Japanese) in concept are not a new idea. For hundreds of years, the Japanese have used the roof of their homes to collect water, transporting it downward with chains and finally depositing the rain water into large barrels for household water usage. Japanese temples often incorporate quite ornate and large rain chains into their design. Rain chains have been spotted in South America, where chain is easier to obtain that machined downspouts.

  • Link designs are the closest to the original form. They tend to splash more than cup styles, and this may be important when they are considered for areas that are near doors, windows or walkways. From plain link chain to more fancy combinations of shapes, link chains offer the most open, airy look and clean lines. They are often used with modern architectural designs, but also look appropriate in rustic settings like cabins and log homes. The Zen Loops and Double Loops chains have the strongest Asian design influence.

  • Cup designs are an improvement over links chains in performance and efficiency. With open bottoms, they act as funnels, focusing the water from one cup down into the next one. Even in heavy rainfall, cup styles splash very little, so they can be placed anywhere. Cups come in many shapes and sizes, from the cute 2” Fluted Cups to the massive XL Scallop Cup, the largest cup style available.

  • Rain Chains are sold by the foot. Most standard Rain Chains are 8 ½ feet long.

  • At the Bottom: The Japanese often put a ceramic or stoneware pot beneath the chain which fills with water, so that when it rains, the water drips from the chain into the pot, creating a beautiful display. You can make a square out of redwood or cedar beneath the chains and fill it with small pebbles. If it is damp regularly, moss will grow between the pebbles. You can also place a single paver tile or a few medium size stones under the chain to break the fall of the water. Hammered Copper and Aluminum Dishes, with a loop in the center, are sold separately and work perfect with Rain Chains.. Adding some small stones into one of our Concrete Bowls also makes a great Rain Chain basin.

  • Product Specifications:

  • Ring Diameter: 3".

  • Shipping Information:

  • Usually ships within 3-5 business days.

  • Rain Chains come with Free Shipping** via UPS Ground for the US 48 States only. Alaska, Hawaii, Canada or any International orders will need to contact us to arrange shipping.

  • **Free Shipping applies for any Rain Chain order of at least 5 feet. Orders for less than 5 feet need to contact us to arrange shipping.

  • Installation:
  • Installation is usually straight forward and simple. Rain chains hang from the hole where the downspout was, using the gutter attachment piece provided. When there is a mismatch because the hole is larger than the chain, a separate Gutter Installation Kit is used to reduce the hole and focus water downward onto (or into) the chain. The Installation Kit also provides an outlet tube, preventing water from creeping along the underside of the gutter and dripping off.

GFRC AR Glass Scrim Fabric Mat

    Product Detail:
  • Alkali resistant glass fibers, woven into a 'net'. Scrims are oriented continuous fiber fabrics. The continuous fiber is usually yarn or roving. The continuous strands are not inter-woven, but are laid over each other at ninety degree orientation and then a binder is applied which holds the fabric structure in place.

  • Highest zirconia content fiber available.
Zirconia is what makes the glass fiber alkali resistant. The higher the zirconia content the better the resistance to alkali attack. This AR Scrim also has excellent acid resistance.

  • Sold in 25 linear feet (10x10 size only), or by the roll of 300 linear feet. Width: 36". Each roll is 900 square feet of scrim.
  • 10x10 is $294.95 per roll ($1.02 per linear foot).
  • 5x5 is $384.95 per roll ($1.28 per linear foot).
  • Scrim can be placed in GFRC and wet-cast concrete to greatly increase the flexible strength.
  • Ideal way to reinforce around difficult mold shapes, such as sink molds and forms.

  • Product Specifications:
  • Coverage: 25 linear feet sections are 36" wide: 75 sq. ft. total. Each roll is 300 linear feet, 36" wide: 900 sq. ft. total.

  • 10x10 denotes 10mm (3/8 inch) spacing between strands. 5x5 denotes 5mm (1/4 inch) between strands.
  • When laying into concrete or GFRC, keep Scrim 1/2" away from the finished top of the concrete to avoid ghosting the fabric image.
  • Standard use: Place one sheet of fabric in the middle of the concrete/GFRC, and another sheet as the last step, then lightly roll or trowel the scrim into the cement.

  • Shipping Information:

  • Usually ships within 1-2 business days.

    Concrete Edge 1.5" Chiseled Rock

    Product Detail:
  • Re-usable edge form liner to create a detailed edge on concrete.
  • Rough Rock edge detail. Has the appearance of a chipped edge where the stone was chipped from above and below, leaving a ridge in the middle running the length of the edging.
  • Made of extremely durable polyurethane that can flex and stay strong.
  • Can be used in pre-cast or poured in place concrete work.
  • Cut to length easily with a utility knife. Join cut pieces using silicone.
  • Fast and easy to place in a mold, and quick to clean after use.
  • Good for hundreds of uses- Actually gets better with each use.

  • Product Specifications:
  • Measurements: 95"L x 1.5"H.

  • Mold Setup:
  • Place in mold and either silicone in place, or screw through a backing form into the Edge Form Liner (screw holes will disappear once you back the screws out).
  • Silicone a bead across the full length of the bottom of the Edge Form Liner to create a water-tight seal.
  • Use of form release is recommended, but usually not necessary. Form release generally will create a smoother finish on the concrete.
  • Vibrate concrete well, or use fingers along entire length of Form Liner to remove as many air pocket voids as possible.

  • Edge Liner Removal:
  • After the concrete is sufficiently set up (typically 2-3 days), remove the Edge Form Liner.
  • Removal is simple- start on one end, and slowly peel the Form Liner away from the concrete.
  • Concrete usually will have small 'bumps' which can be sanded off with a 200 grit sandpaper. These bumps tend to disappear the more the Edge Form Liner is used, as it becomes seasoned.
  • Fill any air pocket voids with a slurry mix. Cenospheres (sold separately here) make slurry fill voids more easily, and with less shrinkage.

  • Edge Liner Care:
  • Clean with a stiff brush and water after each use. Any silicone left on the forms should be peeled or scraped off (the sooner the easier to remove). Any hardened concrete can usually be removed using a wire brush.
  • *Occasional imperfections may be present on the Edge Form Liners, and can be altered using a sharp utility knife, or a very abrasive sand paper or resin-bound grinding discs.

  • Shipping Information:
  • Usually ships within 2 business days.
