Concrete Bench Leg, Grapes and Rams

Product Detail:
  • Concrete Bench Leg, Grapes and Rams.

  • Bench Legs are sold individually: Ordering a quantity of 2 is required for a matching pair.

  • Made of high strength concrete, reinforced with chopped AR glass fibers.

  • Unlike the majority of concrete benches out there who use cheap sand only mixes, or use left over concrete from other projects that they weaken when they have to re-hydrate to fill the bench molds... we make our pieces from a specific concrete formula with over 6,000 PSI, for the longest durability and strength possible.

  • Available in natural grey concrete, colored concrete, acid stained, and an option for sealing the concrete.

  • Bench Tops and Bench Legs are sold individually, so need to be ordered separately and allow complete customization of your bench style and coloring.

  • Product Specifications:
  • Measurements: 16.5" High, 11" Long, 5.75" Wide.

  • Weight: 52 lbs.

  • Color: Using the drop down menu above, select the color desired. DIY project enthusiasts may want to consider ordering acid stain and sealer, and finishing their own project.
  • Note about acid stain colors: Olive, Turquoise, and Jade colors may darken or discolor in outdoor, wet environments.

  • Sealer: If desired, the concrete can be sealed. We use SuperSeal 2000 acrylic sealer, which is a wet-look sealer which protects the concrete and enhances the color. Other sealers can be used, upon a custom request (additional costs would apply).

  • Shipping Information:

  • This product is usually in stock in natural grey. Allow 1-2 weeks for colored and/or sealed pieces. Feel free to contact us or come visit us to see current inventory.

    Concrete Edge 2" Tri-Groove

    Product Detail:
  • Re-usable edge form liner to create a Fluted detailed edge on concrete.
  • Tri-Groove style, fluted edge detail.
  • Creates three indented groves, each about the size of a pencil, in the concrete edge.
  • Made of extremely durable polyurethane that can flex and stay strong.
  • Can be used in pre-cast or poured in place concrete work.
  • Cut to length easily with a utility knife. Join cut pieces using silicone.
  • Fast and easy to place in a mold, and quick to clean after use.
  • Good for hundreds of uses- Actually gets better with each use.

  • Product Specifications:
  • Measurements: 95 1/8"L x 2"H.

  • Mold Setup:
  • Place in mold and either silicone in place, or screw through a backing form into the Edge Form Liner (screw holes will disappear once you back the screws out).
  • Silicone a bead across the full length of the bottom of the Edge Form Liner to create a water-tight seal.
  • Use of form release is recommended, but usually not necessary. Form release generally will create a smoother finish on the concrete.
  • Vibrate concrete well, or use fingers along entire length of Form Liner to remove as many air pocket voids as possible.

  • Edge Liner Removal:
  • After the concrete is sufficiently set up (typically 2-3 days), remove the Edge Form Liner.
  • Removal is simple- start on one end, and slowly peel the Form Liner away from the concrete.
  • Concrete usually will have small 'bumps' which can be sanded off with a 200 grit sandpaper. These bumps tend to disappear the more the Edge Form Liner is used, as it becomes seasoned.
  • Fill any air pocket voids with a slurry mix. Cenospheres (sold separately) make slurry fill voids more easily, and with less shrinkage.

  • Edge Liner Care:
  • Clean with a stiff brush and water after each use. Any silicone left on the forms should be peeled or scraped off (the sooner the easier to remove). Any hardened concrete can usually be removed using a wire brush.
  • *Occasional imperfections may be present on the Edge Form Liners, and can be altered using a sharp utility knife, or a very abrasive sand paper or resin-bound grinding discs.

  • Shipping Information:
  • Usually ships within 2 business days.

    GFRC 101 basics

    GFRC Basics:

  • GFRC (Glass Fiber Reinforced Concrete) is lighter, stronger, faster, and cheaper than most typical concrete mixes.
  • GFRC pieces can be de-molded after 24 hours.
  • A Typical GFRC mix 1:1 ratio means One 90 lb. sack of cement and One 100 lb. bag of sand.
  • For many countertop type applications, smaller batches are sufficient, such as 1/4 this amount.
  • The Expressions-LTD Basic GFRC Mix below works great for GFRC countertops, sinks, and furniture pieces.

  • Expressions-LTD Basic GFRC Mix:
  • Equipment Needed: 5 Gallon Bucket. Heavy Duty Electric Mixer and Paddle Mixing Blade. Scale. Measuring Cup. Hopper Sprayer and Air Compressor. Compaction Roller(s).

    • FACE COAT:
      • Add 6.5 lbs. water (about 3 quarts) to a clean 5 gallon bucket.
      • Add 2.5 lbs. of Polyplex Curing Aid.
      • Add 1 Fl. Ounce of SP 7000 Super Plasticizer.
      • Mix in 23.5 lbs. of #30 Silica Sand (#30 is the sand size, and available at your local hardware store).
      • Mix in 17.5 lbs. Portland Cement (white or gray, available at your local hardware store)
      • Mix in 6 lbs. Vitro Minerals Pozzolans (VCAS).

      • Optional: Mix in any Integral Color, if desired.
      • Add extra water if needed, in small amounts, until mix is creamy.
      • Let mix 'set' (usually about 5 minutes) and then remix briefly.
      • Spray Face Coat of this mix over the mold/form work using a Hopper Sprayer such as the MK3 GFRC Sprayer. Face coat should be 1/8" - 3/16" thick.
      • Allow face coat to sit long enough to stiffen, but remain moist (Time varies, usually 30-45 minutes).
    • BACKER LAYERS:
      • Mix another batch, same formula as above.
      • Slowly mix in 1.6 lbs. of 3/4" Length AR Glass Fibers.

      • Hand lay the fiber-rich backer layer mix over the surface of the mold/form at a 3/8" - 1/2" thickness.
      • Use Compaction Rollers to even out this layer, condense, and remove any air pockets.
      • Place a second backer layer, again 3/8" - 1/2" thickness, and compact with rollers.
      • Finished piece should be 3/4" - 1" thick at a minimum.
      • Additional layers can be added, or a slightly wetter mix can be used last to 'top off' the mold form, and level out the concrete.
    • EXTRA REINFORCING:
      • Extra Reinforcing: Fiberglass Scrim Fabric can be placed between GFRC Backer layers.
      • Fiberglass Scrim will help increase overall strength and flexibility. Ideal for reinforcing around integral concrete sinks.
      • Try to keep Scrim 1/2" away from the Face Coat, to avoid ghosting (faint lines showing an image of something buried in the concrete).

      • A second layer of Scrim can be laid down over the final coat of GFRC, and lightly rolled down into the cement surface.
    • COVERAGE, WEIGHT, and COSTS:
      • Face Coat Batch: Covers approx. 80 sq. ft. at 1/8" thickness.
      • Backer Layer Batch: Covers approx. 30 sq. ft. at 3/8" thickness.
      • Finished GFRC Piece Weight: At 3/4" thickness: 8 lbs per sq. ft. At 1" thickness: 10.5 lbs per sq. ft.
      • Material Cost Approximates: At 3/4" thickness: @$1.99 per sq. ft. At 1" thickness: @$2.65 per sq. ft.
